Use Your Pregnancy Pillow To Relieve Pain, Stress and Anxiety

3 MINUTE READ

Three of my favourite tips to get the most from your Belloost Pregnancy Pillow

There is a lot you can do with your Belloost Pregnancy pillow, especially for those struggling with pregnancy related back and pelvic pain. These tips are practical habits I encourage the pregnant ladies I see in my practice, to do daily. It's a great way to kickstart a self-care routine which we know is important for both physical and mental health during pregnancy, and in those post-partum months. With the Belloost Pillow, you can add an extra level of relaxation to the muscles and joints of your back and pelvis.

So here we go; my 3 favourite tips to get the most from your Belloost pregnancy pillow...

1.

Deep breathing

Practice taking slow deep breaths in and out. Feel your rib cage move out sideways and your belly inflate like a balloon as you breathe in; and completely deflate as you breathe out. Try to keep the breath continuous for 4 seconds on both the inhalation and 4 seconds on the exhalation.

Deep breathing has been shown to be great for anxietyand also some mums find it really helpful for heartburn.

2.

Pelvic tilting

Imagine a 'pooping dog'. Sorry, not the nicest visual! 😆 What you are trying to do here is tuck your tailbone right under and squeeze your butt cheeks and pelvic floor.  Hold for 3 seconds, then relax and repeat. This will give a lovely stretch to your lower back and strengthen your pelvic floor and glutes at the same time. Win Win!  Strength in these muscles is paramount for preventing and relieving pelvic girdle pain during and after pregnancy.

3.

Visualisations

Listen to your mediation/hypnobirthing audios while enjoying your belly-down time. It's the perfect way to enjoy the weightlessness your Belloost Pregnancy Pillow offers and really zone in on your visualisations without being distracted by aches and pains. I did KG Hypnobirthing; the 'Magic Carpet' visualisation was my favourite one to listen to on my Belloost Pillow as it literally felt like I was floating when lying on it! The benefits of practicing mindfulness and meditation are endless, but reducing pain, improving birthing outcomes, feeling empoweredand stress reliefare up there with my favourites.

Give one or all of these techniques a go to quick start your daily self-care routine! Post a picture, we would love to see how you like to spend your self-care time with Belloost!
